Dream start for British Horseball Team

2010-07-30

British Junior Horseball Team taking part in the European Championships at Bishop Burton got away to a dream start when they beat Italy 10-3 in their opening game.

This puts the team in a perfect position for a podium place after other results went in their favour. With the results more important in the games against Spain and Belgium coach Matthew Worthington is faced with a decision of whether to save ponies in the game against France tonight (Friday) and field a team that is not up to full strength. This is based on the assumption that is very unlikely we would win against a very strong French Team.

The team is working towards trying to convert a bronze to silver as opposed to chasing gold and losing everything. We wish the team of Christie Morgan, Megan Chiarella, Harry Hatton, Matty Fawcett, Harriet Moiser, Lauren Hudson, Sophie Neasham and Kathryn Harborough all the best over the next few days.

The result was much appreciated by John Whitaker International, who spontaneously and kindly donated all the players of the British team with riding hats after the end of yesterday's game. This was not planned but they were so impressed with what they saw they felt they had to recognise it.
