Vaulting

This has been an extremely successful weekend for the Brits at the Junior Vaulting European Championships in Pezinok, Slovakia. Andrew McLachlan and Rebecca Norval won Gold in the pas de deux on Tylers Kernal, and lunged by John Eccles, with vaulting history made when Andrew won Bronze in the Individual male competition - the first ever male individual medal for Team GBR.

World Dressage Championships for Young Horses

It was a unanimous opinion from the judges and spectators in the six-year-old section; Woodlander Farouche and Michael Eilberg are World Champions again after scoring 9.88 out of 10, the highest score ever awarded in Verden, Germany. Furthermore, Becky Moody and Carinsio finished a respectable seventh place in the 5 year old class.

Olympic Games

Great Britain finished with a Team Silver medal in the final phase of the eventing competition (31st July) after a closely fought contest saw Germany take the Gold and New Zealand the Bronze. The individual rankings included 5th for Mary King riding Imperial Cavalier, 6th for Tina Cook riding Miners Frolic, 8th for Zara Phillips riding High Kingdom, 27th for William Fox-Pitt riding Lionheart, and 28th for Nicola Wilson riding Opposition Buzz.

The British showjumpers are progressing well, and are currently in joint Silver position alongside The Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland, as they begin the second round of the final team competition today (6th August), with Saudi Arabia in the lead. On Sunday (5th August), Nick Skelton riding Big Star and Ben Maher riding Tripple X both produced foot perfect clear rounds. Scott Brash and Hello Sanctos were unlucky to knock the final jump, whilst Peter Charles riding Vindicat W finished with 8 faults.

The British dressage riders have had a brilliant start at the Olympics, finishing in team Gold medal position following the first round of the team competition, the Grand Prix, on Friday. Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro currently lead the scoreboard with 83.66%, with Carl Hester and Uthopia in 5th, Laura Bechtolshiemer and Mistral Hojris in 7th, and Richard Davison and Artemis in 18th.
