CDI3* Jerez de la Frontera, Spain
GB’s dressage riders enjoyed a successful weekend out in Jerez de la Frontera, with Carl Hester picking up first place in the Grand Prix Freestyle class with Wanadoo, owned by Coral Ingham. As well as a first placing in the Freestyle, Carl enjoyed two second placings with Nip Tuck, owned by Jane de la Mare, in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special. Friday's Grand Prix class also saw Great Britain's Charlotte Dujardin secure a third placing with Barolo, finishing just behind Carl and Nip Tuck, with Germany's Sönke Rothenberger taking the win with 76.22%. British rider Richard Davison also posted a fourth place finish in the Grand Prix Special aboard Bubblingh.
CDI-W Winter Equestrian Festival, Florida
Lara Griffith and Rubin Al Asad, owned by Dr and Mrs Bechtolsheimer, produced some lovely routines out in Wellington during the seventh week of the Festival, to secure fifth spots in both the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Freestyle. The duo even notched up a Personal Best during Thursday’s Grand Prix, posting 72.28%. Elsewhere there was more success for Lara’s coach Laura Tomlinson, as she recorded a first win with her ride Dotty in the Prix St Georges with 73.5%.
CSI3* Mijas, Spain
Showjumper Robert Whitaker narrowly missed out on a first place finish out on the Sunshine Tour, securing a second placing in the Grand Prix class on Sunday. Robert, one of nine members of his family out competing in Mijas over the weekend, completed the course aboard Catwalk VI in a time of 40.09 seconds.
Guy Williams was also in action with Depardieu enjoyed a third place finish in one of the weeks Big Tour classes. There were a number of other British riders who also competed across the week, all gaining valuable experience. In particularly Kent Morgan, who won the Classic Tour Grand Prix with Westpoint Baros.
CSI3* Oliva (MET 2), Spain
It was a great week for Louise Pavitt out in Olivia, as she secured a win in Friday's 1.40m CSI2* class aboard Fiona V/H Lemmenshof, owned by David Simpson. With a number of good placings for British riders at the show, Louise also produced a superb round in Sunday's 1.45m CSI2* class, for a fourth place finish with David Simpson's Unex Chamberlain Z, with less than a second separating the top four spots.
CIC2* Barroca d'Alva, Portugal
The eventing season got underway last weekend with a number of British riders heading out to Portugal for their first outing of the New Year. Sarah Bullimore with Christopher and Sue Gillespie and Brett Bullimore’s Rêve du Rouet were the highest placed British combination, finishing fifth after producing a clear showjumping round, picking up just two time penalties to end on a total score of 55.2 penalties, with Germany’s Andreas Dibowski taking the win.
