The Nations Cup competition in Deauville, France, saw a win for Great Britain maintaining the team’s unbeaten record, with an overall score of 72.979%; The Netherlands placed second (71.825%) with Singapore third (68.943%).
Sophie Wells enjoyed a winning weekend, as she took the grade IV title in the team, individual and freestyle tests with Valerius, finishing just 1% off a Personal Best in the Freestyle after a score of 79.55%. Sophie also took new ride C Fatal Attraction, out to the CPEDI3* show, and placed fourth and third with Charlotte Hogg’s eight year old.
UK Sport National Lottery funded World Class Development Programme rider, Heather Bennett and Zavailantika secured a second placing in the grade III team test, with Deb Criddle and new ride LJT Bacchus (owned by The Lady Joseph Trust) in third. Deb went on to place third in the individual, with Heather finishing sixth before a fifth and second placing respectively in the freestyle test.
In the grade Ia individual class Anne Dunham with LJT Lucas Normak (also owned by the Lady Joseph Trust) took second place in the team test, before taking a win in the individual class and a second placing in the freestyle competition just behind Singapore’s Laurentia Tan.
CSI3* Spring Tour, Belgium
British riders were out in force for the Lummen Spring Tour this weekend (8-12 April), with twelve top three placings recorded. It was a British one-two in the Grand Prix, as Guy Williams aboard Zaire (owned by Caroline Philips) took the top spot after a great jump-off round saw them finish 0.25 seconds ahead of Holly Gillott, riding Graham Smith and her own Dougie Douglas.
Ahead of the Grand Prix, Guy Williams had enjoyed a win in the highly competitive 1.45m class with Casper de Muze, which saw twenty-six riders head through to a thrilling jump-off.
Holly Gillott, a member of the World Class Development Programme, enjoyed a superb weekend with a quartet of first placings aboard Vinny Douglas (owned by Vanessa Alford and Holly) and Dougie Douglas, getting things underway on Wednesday with a win in the 1.30m class before taking a win during Friday’s World Ranking class.
Fellow Development Programme member Joe Clayton also enjoyed a number of top placings, finishing third and fifth in Wednesday’s 1.40m class before securing first place on the last day of the event in the 1.40m class with Gorre (owned by Valerie Whitfield and Mark Williams), just ahead of fellow Brit Guy Williams. Joe also finished second in Sunday’s 1.30m class with Michael Whitaker’s Bonita Z, just 0.62 seconds behind Holly.
George Whitaker secured a third placing in the 1.40m Against the Clock, whilst Chloe Aston enjoyed a win in Wednesday’s 1.45m class.
CSI5* Saut Hermès
Michael Whitaker secured a second placing in the Prix Hermès Sellier 1.50m class on Friday as he took to the arena with Mrs Mertens and his own Amai. Posting an impressive time of 51.25 seconds, Michael finished just 0.3 seconds off Bertram Allen’s winning time.
CSI3* Z Tour, Belgium
World Class Development Programme rider Chloe Winchester enjoyed a top placing out in Lanaken in the U25 class. Riding Carron Nicol’s Curosa III the duo posted a good round in a competitive class to take the win 0.85 seconds ahead of the host’s Romy Morssinkhof. Julie Andrews and Geoff Luckett enjoyed numerous top placings in the 1.30m and 1.35m class respectively.
CSI3* Riviera Sun Tour, Italy
Jay Halim enjoyed a number of good placings out at the Riviera Sun Tour, San Giovanni in Marignano, Italy over the weekend, with numerous top three placings in the CSI3* classes. For full results please click HERE.
CSI3* Mediterranean Tour, Spain
There were a number of British riders competing in the final leg of the 2015 Mediterranean Equestrian Tour, with good placings recorded including a win in the Bronze Tour 1.40m class for Helena Cassir and Grando 234, owned by Lucie Kramp.
