The next leg of the hotly anticipated FEI Nations Cup series for Eventing will take place on British turf at Houghton Hall near Kings Lynn (Norfolk, 22-25 May 2014); the British CICO Nations Cup squad competing there has today been announced.
Britain currently remains in a very close second place in the overall Nations Cup rankings after the first two competitions this year with a total of 19 points. France lead with 20 points whilst the Netherlands are in third place with nine.
Supported by the UK Sport lottery funded World Class Programme, Britain will be represented at Houghton Hall in the Nations Cup competition by the below combinations, in alphabetical order:
- Ros Canter, aged 28 from Louth, Lincolnshire, riding her own Zenshera
- David Doel, 21 from Chippenham in Wiltshire, riding Koyuna Sun Magic who is jointly owned by David along with Maggie Doel and Jane James
- Dani Evans, 22 from Bristol riding Smart Time owned by Luana Edge
- Emily Llewellyn, 24 from Heathfield in E.Sussex riding Cindy Llewellyn’s Junior II
Team Manager Philip Surl commented on the Norfolk-bound team: “We were all thrilled with Ros Canter and Zenshera’s first result since their call up to the Nations Cup squad at Ballindenisk where they finished in a very respectable fifth place, so it will be exciting to see how they fare in front of the home crowd.
“David Doel and Koyuna Sun Magic have been a strong partnership for some time. They were due to contest the Polish leg of the Nations Cup last year which was cancelled, however they were successful in rerouting to Tattersalls where they achieved a fantastic second place in the CIC3*. Their partnership has developed recently with an impressive fourth place result in a very competitive Advanced Intermediate field at Kelsall Hill.
“Dani Evans showed a lot of promise on the Nations Cup squad last year where she and Raphael II came seventh overall on the Italian leg of the series at Montelibretti. She heads to Houghton Hall with Smart Time with whom she represented Britain at last year’s FEI Young Rider Europeans.
“Emily Llewellyn and Junior II return to Houghton Hall for their second season of the Nations Cup with strong recent form, having taken 13th place in the Grantham Cup CIC3* at Belton. They also have CCI4* completions under their belts from Pau (FRA) and Luhmuehlen (GER) last year so it will be interesting to see how they have come on as part of the team this time around.”
The Nations Cup Series continues at the below Events:
