At the FEI World Pony Championships 2017, held in Minden, Germany from 15-20 August, Tara Wilkinson (20) was the youngest driver to represent Britain. She drove Emma Burge’s Welsh Section C ponies, H (Capitola Mr Houdini), Belle de Jour and Menai Lone Ranger.
She had a good start to the competition with a 7th place in dressage from 33 starters. Tara drove her usual storming marathon and finished in 6th place to move her up to 2nd in the overnight standing with the cone driving to follow on the last day. Tara drove a careful round in the cones and held her nerve to finish with one cone down and only one time penalty in a class where there were only 2 clear rounds. This was good enough to ensure she moved up and took the gold medal.
