Winter Equestrian Festival, Wellington, USA

London 2012 team gold medallist, Ben Maher, scooped first place at this weekend’s $25,000 Nutrena Jumper Classic at the Floridian jumping festival. Riding Niko Detlef’s nine year old gelding Contigo 37, Ben produced a double clear jumping round with a jump-off time of 42.374 seconds, to take the win by just 0.113 seconds ahead of USA’s Andrew Ramsay. Ben also took fourth place in the $25,000 Suncast 1.50m Jumper Classic on Michael Dorman and Wyndmont’s Valinski S.

CSI5* Gothenburg Horse Show, Sweden

Olympic and 2013 European team gold medallist, Scott Brash, took home top placings from the Gothenburg Horse Show this weekend, producing a double clear round in a time of 42.84 seconds to take third place in the 1.45m class presented by Volvo Cars. Riding Lady Harris and Lady Kirkham’s chestnut gelding, Hello Forever, the current World Number One finished just 1.97 seconds behind first placed Harrie Smolders from The Netherlands. Scott also claimed a sixth placing in the 1.40m speed class on Lord & Lady Harris and Lord & Lady Kirkham’s young stallion Hello M’Lord, whilst fellow Brit, Robert Whitaker, took third place on Miss Mandy Hall’s Zantos II.

Sunshine Tour, Spain

There were several British riders in action at this week’s Spanish Sunshine Tour, athletes included UK Sport National Lottery funded World Class Development Programme rider, Spencer Roe, who picked up eighth place in the 1.50m GP Tour on his mother’s (Sally Roe) Wonder Why.
