CSI5* Geneva International Horse Show, Switzerland
World number one Scott Brash had an outstanding week of results at the Swiss 5* show, claiming the title in two top classes. Partnering Lady Kirkman and Lord and Lady Harris’ Hello Sacntos, Brash kicked off his week with a win in Friday’s Rolex International Jumping Riders Club (IJRC) Top 10 Final. Brash and Hello Sanctos were the only combination to produce a double clear round securing the win over jumping’s top 10 riders in the world.
Sunday saw another double clear from the dynamic duo to claim first place in the Rolex Grand Prix, a jump-off time of 35.69 seconds placed the pair on top by just 0.25 seconds ahead of France’s Roger Yves Bost on Qoud´coeur De La Loge.
Fellow Brits Ben Maher and William Whitaker also enjoyed a successful show; Maher secured a fourth place finish in the Prix des Vin de Genève and sixth place in the Credit Suisse Geneva Classic on board Stone Ridge Farms LLC’s Wings Sublieme. UK Sport National Lottery funded World Class Development Programme rider William Whitaker took third place in the Prix Tribune de Genève on Ian Whitaker and Mr Calvin McDonald’s Glenavadra Brilliant.
CSI5* La Coruna, Spain
It was a family affair at the CSI5* show in Spain this weekend as John Whitaker and Leif Kjetil Gjendemsjoe’s grey gelding Woulon L took fourth place in the Trofeo La Caixa 1.45m class, just ahead of son Robert who finished fifth with Mandy Hall and his mother’s (Clare) USA Today. With both combinations producing a clear jumping round it was John who stopped the clock first to finish just 0.27 seconds ahead of Robert, with victory going to Portugal’s Luis Sabino Gonçalves.
CSI4* Salzburg, Austria
UK Sport Lottery funded World Class Development Programme rider Jessica Mendoza came away from the Salzburg 4* show with a host of top results. A clear round in a time of 60.98 seconds was enough to claim victory in the J & A Frischeis Challenge on board her mother’s ( Sarah Mendoza) bay stallion Ramiro de Belle Vue. The same combination also picked up second place in the Alpenspan CSI4* Opening with another clear round in a time of 63.68 seconds.
Jessica also secured a second place finish in both the Amadeus Masters class and Gaston Glock’s Championat Von Salzburg class on Mr John Roberts and Mrs Sarah Mendoza’s Spirit T.

FEI Awards Gala 2014, Baku, Azerbaijan
Jackie Potts, groom to eventing world number one William Fox-Pitt , was this weekend recognised for her hard work and dedication by winning the Best Groom Award at the FEI Awards Gala in Baku, Azerbaijan. At the helm of William’s eventing operation for 22 years, Jackie has groomed at no less than four Olympic Games, four FEI World Equestrian Games and eight European Championships.
Jackie commented after receiving her much deserved award, “It is so exciting and an absolute privilege to be here to receive this award tonight. I feel like I am accepting this award on behalf of all other grooms, who are so hardworking and equally deserving,”
