Les Etoiles de Pau, France

Les Etoiles de Pau in France hosted the final CCI4* of the 2014 European eventing season, which saw London 2012 Olympic team silver medallist Nicola Wilson finishing best of the British riders in eighth place on Gerry and Mary Kemp and Janine Shewan’s One Two Many. The win went to Germany’s Ingrid Klimke by over 10 penalties on Horseware Hale Bob with Andreas Dibowski (FRH Butts Avedon) second and France’s Arnaud Boiteau (Quoriano ENE HN) third.

SHOWJUMPING
Shanghai International Horse Festival, China

The World number three Ben Maher took top honours in the Longines Grand Prix at this weekend’s Shanghai International Horse Festival. Riding Hermann Raabe’s Ecreto B, the combination produced a double clear in a jump-off time of 32.42, taking the win over China’s Duan Yihua and Adinka.

European showjumping round-up

Out in France at the CSI3* in St Lo, Emma O’Dwyer produced some good rounds to record two top five placings aboard Seventh Fee. She also finished joint third in Friday’s Prix Credit Agricole Normandie, Puissance.

At the Oliva CSI2* Autumn Tour (23 October – 9 November) in Spain there were some good results for GBR athletes across the board, including a win and two podium placings for UK Sport funded World Class Development rider Jessica Mendoza with Ramiro de Belle Vue and Spirit T. Whilst Geoff Luckett and Nina Barbour enjoyed good placings in the Gold and Bronze Tours respectively.

Matthew Sampson took the win in the 1m45 CSI2* class on Saturday out at Opglabbeek in Belgium, with Handyman; the pair went on to finish seventh in the weekends CSI2* Grand Prix.
