WEG Round-Up: 24 August 2014

All the GBR dressage, para-dressage and reining horses sailed through the trot-up this morning. We now have our start times for the next two days of competition.



Drawn 16th out of 19 teams to compete, Gareth Hughes kicks things off for Britain with Jane Brewin’s DV Stenkjers Nadonna at 10.29 (09.29 UK time); Carl with his and Jane De La Mare’s Nip Tuck go at 16.59 (15.59 UK time).

Tuesday sees Michael Eilberg head into the arena at 11.33 (10.33 UK time) with Jon and Julie Deverill’s Half Moon Delphi; Charlotte Dujardin with Roly Luard and Carl Hester’s Valegro go at 17.00 (16.00 UK time).

No timings for reining but start lists are out; WEG debutant Josh Collins with Spook a Little gets things underway for GBR, seventh into the arena (should be around 09.15, 08.15 UK time) with fellow debutant Jessica Sternberg and Smart Like Valentino next to go for the Brits (27th in; approximately 13.15, 12.15 UK time). Doug (Hangten Shiner), Shane (Chex n Flashy) and Francesca (Ten Reasons) all take to the arena on Tuesday.

Our Grade Ib’s get things underway for GBR tomorrow when Ricky, (aboard The Lady Joseph Trust’s  LJT Engaards Solitaire) and Lee (with Zion, owned by Mr and Mrs Pearson, Mrs Gillian Chinn and rider) take to the arena for the first day of the individual competition.

It’s the GBR girls turn on Tuesday, as Natasha Baker (Mr and Mrs Baker’s and Mr C Landolt’s Cabral), Sophie Wells (with her own Valerius) and Sophie Christiansen (and her own Janeiro 6) begin their WEG campaigns.

Last night saw the first spectacular from the Normandy 2014 Organising Committee, as the Opening Ceremony took place. Team GBR flag bearer Sophie Wells, alongside official board carriers Team Farrier Haydn Price and Team Physio Andy Thomas lead the Great Britain delegation out to great support from the gathered crowd.
