Background
Charlotte began her equestrian career in showing at young age, winning Horse of the Year Show four times and Hickstead three times.
Charlotte took an interest in dressage and in 2007 was able to take lessons with one of Britain’s top dressage riders, Carl Hester. After several lessons and a short time spent working on the yard, Carl offered her a full time position as a rider. As her career has progressed, she brought on her first Grand Prix horse, Fernandez. Following the sale of the horse, Charlotte continued to ride Valegro who she has ridden since young horse classes. Valegro is owned by her mentor and trainer Carl and Mrs Roly Luard.
As Charlotte’s success has grown, she has become a trainer in her own right, including elite clients such as eventer Mark Todd, whom she’s been training for the last three years: “He’s great and such a lovely guy but I still shout at him just the same as everyone else!”
Charlotte took part in her first Grand Prix class in January 2011 riding Valegro and won, with a record debut score of 74%. In Hagen, Germany, Charlotte and Valegro broke the World and British record for the Grand Prix Special, scoring 88.022%.
