Background
At 15 years old, Nick took a difficult pony to the Edgar stable for advice and was offered a job - for the next 12 years he learnt from mentor Ted Edgar.
With a career that has now spanned four decades, Nick has been one of the major front runners of the sport at both a national and international level. An injury to his neck in 2000 forced him to retire but, after making a great recovery and being given the all clear he returned to the sport late in 2002 and has never looked back.
His career highlights include winning the King George V cup four times, the Hickstead Derby three times and being a World Cup Final winner with Dollar Girl in 1995.
Nick has represented Great Britain at 167 Nations Cup competitions, six Olympic Games (counting the Alternative Olympic Games in 1980), won five World and ten senior European Championship medals and currently holds the British record for jumping the highest fence – 7’7” at Olympia in 1978.
He had an amazing start to his 2012 campaign, recording nine major wins during a twelve week competition out in Florida and was awarded an OBE for his services to equestrian sport in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in June this year.
