Dr Peter Whitehead has an extensive medical and equestrian background. He has an MSc in Sports Medicine and was a full-time GP for 30 years before leaving his practice in 2012 to concentrate on sports medicine. Peter took up the post of Chief Medical Officer for the World Class Programme in 2002.
Peter has been British Team doctor at World Equestrian Games and Olympic and Paralympic Games. In 2012 he was the Venue Medical Manager at Greenwich Park for the London Olympic and Paralympic Games. Peter has been on the FEI Medical Committee for three years and in 2012 was elected as Chair of the Committee, which studies rider health and welfare as well as being responsible for approving rider medication in FEI competitions.
