Brilliant results from British vaulters in Saumur

The annual FEI Vaulting CVI in Saumur finished with eight podium finishes for the young, dynamic British contingent.

In the Junior Pas De Deux 2* category Katie Henderson & Kerri Brylka performed a brilliant second round freestyle of their ‘lost generation’ freestyle. Alongside their horse Captain Jack and lunger, former three time world champion Joanne Eccles, they took the top step on the podium.

In the Junior 2* team category the squad from South of Scotland Select on Bankey Moon with lunger Rebecca Hewitt took 2nd place. Performing their ‘Take That’ routine to great acclaim, they finished second to current World and European Champions the team from Nordheim in Germany.

Continuing their successful weekend squad members Araminta Younger & Henry Johnston Smith maintained their impressive form to podium again in the Junior Individual female and male category respectively. Araminta shining to finish 2nd out of a class of 42 competitors, with Henry Johnston Smith finishing 3rd, both on Bankey Moon with lunger Rebecca Hewitt.

In the Senior Pas De Deux 3* category Hannah Ballantyne and Molly Turner finished 3rd with lunger Lynn Ballantyne lunging Superdelux who was competing at his first abroad international vaulting competition. Whilst in the Senior Pas De Deux 2* category Alexandra Day and Corinne Bottley competed on River of Thyme with lunger Julie Newell to finish 3rd.

In the Senior 3* team competition the team from the English Vaulting Squad delighted audiences with their ‘Chicago’ freestyle to finish 4th.  Their new, young team alongside Demezza and lunger Suzi Cusick showing great promise for the future.

The CVI * competition saw two podium finishes for Team GBR with Felix Morton finishing 3rd in the Individual male competition and Romilly Hayton 2nd in the child female competition.
