The British Equestrian Federation are delighted to announce the appointment of Ashleigh Wallace as Lead Physiotherapist for the World Class Programme.
A highly respected physiotherapist with more than 20 years’ experience within the UK’s high performance sport system, Ashleigh joins the equestrian Programme as a member of the English Institute of Sport, where she has held a number of leadership roles and will continue on a part time basis as Athlete Health Consultant within the Research and Innovations Team.
With experience leading and managing teams throughout four Olympic cycles, and experience of delivering at four Olympic Games, Ashleigh has previously worked with England and Great Britain’s Woman’s Hockey team, GB Rowing, Bobsleigh, Honda Race Team and Maclaren Formula One to name a few.
Head of Performance Support, Georgina Sharples says: “Equestrian Team GBR has two athletes (equine and human) in every combination it fields and the ability of both to deliver optimal and harmonious performance on a given day are crucial in the quest for international success. Having highly experienced and capable equine and human support services backing our athletes is a key component of the World Class Programme. Recruiting a physiotherapist of Ash’s calibre and expertise as we strive to optimise human performance support is hugely exciting for the Programme and I believe will give British riders the very best of support on our journey to Tokyo and beyond”
Ashleigh will lead the development and delivery of athlete health strategies and physiotherapy support across the equestrian World Class Olympic and Paralympic Programme squads.
