British Reining has confirmed the athletes who will compete for Great Britain at the FEI World Equestrian Games 2018 (WEG), which takes place in Tryon, USA (11-23 September).
Francesca Sternberg receives her fifth WEG selection, after first representing Great Britain at a Games in 2002, whilst for Alison Bucknell, Tryon will represent her second championships, after making her senior team debut at last year’s European Championships. Both Francesca and Alison will compete as individuals at WEG.
The selected athletes are;
Alison Bucknell from Gloucestershire, with her own Jac Barbee Dream
Francesca Sternberg from Kent, with either her own Chic Filay or Rosanne Sternberg’s Spook N Sparkle
Reining Chef d’Equipe, Doug Allen comments; “Although we don’t have a full team this year, I am really excited about the riders we are sending to WEG in Tryon. Francesca has been to every WEG since 2002 so has a great wealth of experience and Alison competed in Switzerland last year on the British team at the European Reining Championships. They are both riding tried, tested and talented horses, so I feel Great Britain will be well represented.”
Equestrian Team GBR is supported by the UK Sport National Lottery funded World Class Programme; the British teams are very grateful to the support they receive from the British Equestrian Federation Fund and official partners Dodson and Horrell, Equi-Trek, FALPRO England, Musto, NAF and Point Two.
