12th Aug 2019

Britain lead from the fore in Dublin

Great Britain, competing under the sponsor banner of Team NAF, reigned supreme in the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup of Ireland on Friday afternoon at Dublin Horse Show. The team – which comprised of Ben Maher MBE and Concona, Scott Brash MBE and Hello Jefferson, Emily Moffitt and Winning Good, and Holly Smith and Hearts Destiny – led from the start to finish 11 penalties ahead of second-placed Italy, securing a place in the FEI Jumping Nations Cup Final in Barcelona.

World Class Performance Manager for Showjumping, Di Lampard, commented “We came here confident and knowing the job in hand and I’m delighted to say it all came together. The stars were aligned that we also got the Barcelona qualification and I have to pay tribute to the riders who delivered fantastic performances today.

Piggy add two more wins to her total

Piggy French’s stellar 2019 season continued at the NAF International Hartpury Horse Trials, where she notched up two more international wins. This brings her total for the season to 11 – according to eventing statistics company Equiratings, she’s sitting just two wins shy of equalling the record set by German eventer Michael Jung in 2009, then repeated by him in 2014 and 2015.

Her victories came with Brookfield Quality in the CCI3*-L and Quarrycrest Echo in the CCI4*-S, where she also came second with Brookfield Inocent. Quarrycrest Echo has been selected as Piggy’s ride at the FEI Eventing European Championships in just over two weeks’ time, so this result bodes well for the British team.
