Show Jumping
Ben Maher
Ben Maher is one of Britain’s most successful international show jumpers and a Tokyo 2020 Olympic individual gold medallist. Born in Enfield in 1983, he came up through the pony jumping ranks before transitioning to senior international competition in his early twenties.
Tokyo 2020 individual gold
Riding Explosion W, Maher produced a double-clear over the Tokyo Olympic courses to win Britain’s first Olympic show jumping individual gold medal since 1952 — a result that, alongside the Oliver Townend-led eventing team gold in the same Games, made Tokyo a historic Olympic equestrian campaign for Team GBR.
