Michael Whitaker

Michael has been one of the mainstays of the British team since the 1980’s and has represented Great Britain at the past four major international competitions, the 2014 World Equestrian Games, the 2015 European Championships and the Olympic Games in Rio.

His first senior major team appearance came at the Olympic Games in 1984 in Atlanta, where he secured a team silver medal. He has also won prestigious titles such as the King George V Gold Cup and the Hickstead Derby, which he has won a total four times.

Michael traveled to the European Championships in 2013 with Viking and was part of the team that won Team Gold in Herning, Denmark.

In 2017, Michael and Viking were selected to compete as individuals at the European Championships, but Viking had to be withdrawn before the first round of the competition.
