  • Not only is he a tremendous asset caring for the horses, he also keeps both of us sane and calm before a competition.
  • He is meticulous in his organisation, leaving nothing to chance with no stone unturned.
  • He has an empathy with the horses within his care that is unrivalled.
  • He works tirelessly to maintain the health and wellbeing of these top dressage horses – they are always in peak condition thanks to his dedication.
  • The past few years have been a whirlwind of success and Alan has played a key part in this.
  • His honesty and integrity are beyond reproach and who works extremely well under pressure.
  • He is not only our greatest asset, but also Team GBR’s greatest asset and we feel very fortunate to have him as part of our team

On receiving the award, a thrilled Alan said, “This award means the world to me, I have worked with horses all my life and to receive the recognition from Haddon Training is fantastic and hope that it raises awareness of the major part of the team the groom plays and the important job that they do, especially when travelling horses to Championships and keeping them healthy and happy.  I feel very honoured to win the Team GBR Grooms Award as I was up against all the Team GBR grooms who are all brilliant at their jobs and to be nominated by three top people and judged by three esteemed individuals is extremely satisfying”.

The three judges were so impressed by the standard of nominations received for the Team GBR Grooms Award that they felt a runners-up certificate should be awarded and the recipient was Zanie King, who groomed for Laura Collett at the FEI European Eventing Championships.
